The Blue Baboon is the 13th level in Ape Escape 2.

Description

The Blue Baboon is a sunny beachside of a lagoon, where monkeys are relaxing by the sea.

Strategy

The Bananarang: This level introduces monkeys hidden away in hanging huts. Use the Bananarang to lure them out. The monkey in the seashell needs to be approached stealthily or it will retreat into its shell. A monkey later in the level is standing next to a UFO and by using the Bananarang, the player can lure the monkey away and catch it before it enters the spaceship.

• The level's name is a reference to the book and film, The Blue Lagoon.
• Mulder and his description are a reference to Fox Mulder from The X-Files. The name was likely chosen because the monkey pilots a UFO.
  • The PAL version of the first Ape Escape also had a UFO pilot named Mulder, on the level "Specter Land".
  • The PAL version of Ape Escape 3 had its own reference to Mulder in Toytown.
• Jimmy has a unique idle animation here, where he wipes his brow in the heat.
• Despite being set on a beach, the four monkey heads carved into the cliff face seem to be a reference to Mount Rushmore.
