The Monkey Cannon is an enemy that appears in Ape Escape 2. It is first introduced in the Lookout Valley level.
Appearance[]
The Monkey Cannon is a monkey-operated cannon which is mounted to the ground and has a greyish-blue chassis. It has a cannon in the centre and turrets attached on the left and right which fire small homing missles. The top of the Monkey Cannon has a blue light to indicate how many times it has been hit, the monkey turrets also have blue lights which change colour to match whatever the health of the Monkey Cannon is.
Phrase[]
"The chassis is made from papier mache"

Strategy[]
The large cannon in the middle lobs fast explosive balls at Jimmy when he is further away. When Jimmy gets closer, the side turrets shoot homing missiles which Jimmy has to avoid. When Jimmy is in swinging range of the Monkey Cannon, its cannon becomes a flamethrower which attempts to chase Jimmy off. The easiest way to hit the monkey cannon is to constantly keep moving to avoid projectiles, and then hitting the Monkey Cannon before it has a chance to use its flamethrower. The flamethrower can also be avoided by circling around the Monkey Cannon when close. Jimmy also has the option to destroy the missile-launching turrets which each take two swings of the Stun Club to destroy. The Monkey Cannon itself takes three hits of the Stun Club to destroy, with its light turning yellow after one hit and red after two hits. If Jimmy has the Magic Punch, each missile turret can be destroyed in a single hit and the Monkey Cannon itself only needs to be hit twice, turning red immediately after the first hit.
