Molten Lava, known in Europe as Dinosaur Valley, and in Japan as Kyouryuu Valley (きょうりゅうバレー, lit. "Dinosaur Valley" ) is the 3rd level in Ape Escape and Ape Escape: On the Loose. It is also the 3rd and final stage in The Lost Land.
Description[]
Molten Lava is mainly a small mountain that starts next to a waterfall. At the top of the mountain there is an active volcanic area with a T-Rex. This is the first level in Ape Escape to introduce dinosaurs which can become an obstacle when catching monkeys.

Go Catch 4 Monkeys![]
In his first visit, Spike only has 5 monkeys available to catch throughout the entire level. Taking the path on the right from the start of the level leads to the triceratops, but you will need to return with the Slingback Shooter to open the gate.
Scotty (Chimpo) hides behind the waterfall in the main area. Near from there, Coco (Jimnast) is doing some acrobatics.
There's a monkey hiding in the pterodactyl's nest, but the dinosaur is very protective of its eggs, so it will grab you and toss you away if you don't dodge its talons.
Within the volcano, Mattie (Raquel) is taking covering from the T-Rex in the opposite platform to the one you enter the area. In order to capture the monkey riding on the dinosaur, you must trick it into colliding with the corners of the arena four times. When this is done, Barney (Moo Baa) will be knocked from the beast's back and become available to capture.
Go Catch the Monkeys![]
In order to complete this stage 100%, you need the Slingback Shooter (Received by clearing Cryptic Relics) and the Sky Flyer (Received in Frosty Retreat). Once with these gadgets on hand, you can open the gate to the triceratops and reach Moggan (Joe Young) respectively.
To capture Rocky (Farmer), you need to knock him from the dinosaur's back by tossing the bombs he throws back at his mount, which will prompt the dinosaur to rush around in circles. After three times of doing this, the triceratops will be free from the monkey and you'll be able to capture it.
Specter Coins Locations[]
The Specter Coin can be found on the slope leading up to the pterodactyl nest. It is easier to get it by allowing the dinosaur to catch you and drop you above it.

Time Attack[]
To clear the Time Attack you need to catch 5 out of the 7 monkeys in the stage. The fastest way to achieve this is by ignoring Barney and Rocky, as it takes a long time to get them off the dinosaurs they ride. Instead, go for Scotty, Coco, Moggan, J. Thomas (Twitcher) and Mattie in that order, trying to grab as many Energy Chips along the way as you can.
