Hanzos are enemies that appear in Ape Escape.
Appearance[]
Hanzos are little round black-skinned creatures with baby blue eyes and a little red mouth. They wear an Edo period royal blue ninja uniform that has white edges around the neck and is tied in a red belt. They also wear a grey bandana on their foreheads and some red boots.
Strategy[]
Hanzos appear from nowhere when Spike is near their triggering zone. When they spawn, they'll start to shoot shurikens at Spike and run around aimlessly afterwards, whether or not the projectiles managed to hit their objective. Hanzos will repeat this pattern until Spike lands a hit on them, at which moment they'll leave a wooden log substitute in their place and disappear for a few seconds before reappearing again with the same set of movements.
In order to defeat Hanzos you must hit them twice. Due to the erratic and fast way they move it's hard to hit them with most of your weapons, the best strategy being to ram them with the Super Hoop or by defect, use the hoop to escape from them as they don't follow Spike actively. When you get the Magic Punch, you can defeat Hanzos in one hit, regardless if they've used their log substitute or not.
